Jennifer Garner was born on 17 April 1972 at Houston, Texas but was raised within Charleston, West Virginia. William John Garner was her father and a chemical engineering at Union Carbide. Patricia Ann, her mother taught at a local college. Following in the footsteps of her father she graduated with an engineering degree in chemical science. So that she could fulfil her dream to become an actress, she relocated to New York. When she was not appearing in Broadway productions, she also worked as waitress. She played a minor role on "Felicity" (where she also met Scott Foley). Garner got her breakthrough in the action thriller "Alias." Her debut main role as a lead actress was on the critically acclaimed romantic comedy "13 Going to thirty." Garner played a teen trapped in the 30-year old body. Garner picked Gary Winick (director) to create the film. The two searched for projects that could be made before Winick's passing in 2011. Garner was appointed as an artist ambassador with Save the Children U.S.A. for 2009, played a key role in the organization. This role entails national literacy along with nutrition, early childhood education, and many various other aspects. Garner has been on this board of trustees since 2014. Garner promotes early childhood education. As an ambassador she visits frequently with families that participate in Early Steps to School Success, a program that coaches parents on how to help youngsters in their learning.
